This weekend is The La Jolla Art and Wine Festival and in celebrating this fun and spectacular event Cedo Interior Design will be hosting an open house and Art and Furniture sale. The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival will take place on October 9 & 10 from 11:00am - 6:00pm. Event admission is $15 for a two-day pass, $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under, military, and senior (65 and above) and free for children 2 and under. The public will be able to buy tickets for the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival at the event. Ticket sales booths will be located at both the north and the south entrance to the event which is on Gerard Ave.

The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival has something for everyone ... including kids! The Geppetto's Family Art Center provides children of all ages the opportunity to do hands-on art projects. For the first time this year, children will get an opportunity to paint a car - a life size, fully functioning automobile provided by Witt Lincoln - with the hope that this experience becomes a permanent part of the festival! In our special kids' art studio, children can choose to make a festive hat, create a Torrey pine blowing in the wind, do some finger knitting, make a necklace, or simply doodle with colored pencils, pens, or sidewalk chalk.

Cedo will be featuring two Artist’s in the showroom Johnathan M. Singer who is in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian (on loan from Symbolic Collection’s Art Gallery) and local wonder Chris Swabb of Chris Swabb Fine Art Photography. Cedo’s furnishings and accessories will be 30% off both days. Cedo hopes to see all of our clients, friends, and neighbors this weekend.

SPEAK FOR SUCCESS-WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

Cedo Interior Design in Spring 2010 was introduced to an amazing organization Women’s Leadership Institute a non-profit that supports women to enhance and change their current circumstance and truly empower themselves. Cedo’s support for the organization in the Spring was the gift of enhancing and decorating new homes for 10 graduates of the program. This September 25, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. they are hosting their annual Women Changing the World celebration to honor local San Diego women leaders and Cedo would love for you to learn more about the organization, this event, and to see if you or your group could extend more awareness or support to the Women’s Leadership Institute.

Speak For Success: Women's Leadership Institute a non-profit organization that gives women who have overcome adversities (i.e. domestic violence, addiction, and homelessness) the support and confidence to:

FURNITURE SALE

RECIPE OF THE MONTH:

Emeril's Panzanella Salad
with Shallot Vinaigrette

Ingredients:
2 pounds heirloom tomatoes
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
4 shallots, peeled and sliced into rounds (about 1/2 cup)
1/4 cup brown rice vinegar
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/2 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons chopped chives
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
1 tablespoon chopped basil
1 bunch thyme
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
2 cups whole wheat bread, cut into small cubes
1/4 cup chopped, pitted black olives
1/2 cup micro greens

Method:
Seed and dice tomatoes. Place tomatoes in a colander set over a bowl to catch the juices. Salt the tomatoes and let them sit while preparing the rest of the dish. In a small saucepan add the shallots to the olive oil. Bring to a boil and immediately turn down to a simmer and cook until the shallots are tender, 10 minutes. Remove from the heat, strain, and let cool. Puree the shallots with 2 tablespoons olive oil. Reserve the remaining oil. Make the vinaigrette by whisking 3 tablespoons of shallot puree with vinegar, garlic, mustard, sugar and herbs. Season with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper. In a large skillet heat the olive oil. Toss the bread cubes in the skillet. Sauté until crispy and golden. Season with salt and pepper while still hot.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained tomatoes and olives and toss with 1/4 cup of the shallot vinaigrette. To serve, place a 3-inch round cookie cutter on a plate and spoon the tomato mixture into the mold, filling it all the way to the top. Mound the micro greens on top of the tomatoes, garnish with toasted bread cubes and drizzle the plate with a little vinaigrette. Repeat this process for all four plates.

Yield: 4 servings

HOUSEHOLD ITEM OF THE MONTH

Guava Family GoCrib

The first thing you have to learn to do as a parent is to blow up random objects. Actually, you might want to start practicing before you have kids to work those lungs out a little. You can't afford to not be prepared for these sorts of things. Those of you that had blow-up chairs in high school will have a small amount of an edge. The rest of you though need to really get to working on this sort of thing. Of course for this particular blow-up crib they were nice enough to include a pump. Don't let that make you think you can get lazy though, there will come a day when you're stuck blowing up a whole assembly line of pool toys.

If you're a parent that prefers to take you baby into the great outdoors then you know sometimes it gets challenging. One way to make sure your baby stays right where they should be is to pick up this GoCrib. It's a mesh crib that'll let them play outside without you worrying about any stick or leaves getting jammed into their mouth. The whole thing will git directly into a handy little book bag. Once your child has gotten older, the mesh sides unzip to give them a little fort to play within. To purchase the Guava Family GoCrib it'll cost you $249 through Amazon.
